The Nokia E71 was one of Nokia’s most successful devices, its successor the E72 followed in its footsteps and managed to be quite popular itself. But its been almost two years since it was announced (June 2009) and we all been waiting for a successor that can fill in the big shoes left by these hugely popular devices. The E6 is Nokia’s answer.
The Nokia E6 retains the same design as its predecessors, but also packs a 2.4″ touch display making it the first Symbian^3 device to debut in this form factor. It has a slightly improved keyboard design that we have grown comfortable with over the years
, an 8 Megapixel ‘Full Focus’ camera, a mono loudspeaker and all the other bells and whistles we expect from a modern day smartphone. The good thing about the E6′s touch display is that it has gone from the 320 x 240 pixels QVGA on the E72 to a hi-res VGA clocking 640×480 pixels which translates to 326ppi on the E6′s 2.4″ display. The hardware inside although remains similar to the last generation of Symbian^3 devices and includes a 680 MHz ARM 11 processor and a Broadcom BCM2727 GPU along with 256 MB of RAM and a 1GB ROM.
The E6 is a slim device 15.5 x 59 x 10.5 mm in size and weighs in at 133g.It is powered by a 1500 mAh battery that promises a talktime of 14h 48 min and 7h 30 min and a very impressive standby time of 681h and 744h on GSM and WCDAMA networks respectively.
