Android 3.2 begins hitting WiFi Motorola XOOMs, LTE module for Verizon XOOM passes FCC

If you're the proud owner of a WiFi Motorola XOOM, you may want to hit up the System Update portion of your beloved tablet. There are reports flying in showing that Android 3.2 has been making its way to some WiFi-only XOOMs in the wild. Not only does the update finally bring SD card support to the XOOM, but it also includes a nifty option to zoom or stretch an app to make it a little more tablet-friendly.
Stretch mode will stretch out an app's layout, while zooming in on an app will leave the layout as is but stretch everything to fill your display. That might make the app in question look a bit more like it was built specifically for a tablet, but it will be somewhat pixelated. It's also worth a quick mention that, as of now, it looks like only the WiFi XOOMs are getting the 3.2 update.

You Verizon XOOM owners may not be getting the Android 3.2 love just yet, but that doesn't mean we don't have any good news for you. Motorola and Verizon have long been promising that the XOOM's upgrade to LTE would go down this summer, and today it was revealed that the module necessary to perform that upgrade recently passed through the FCC. There's still no word on when the upgrade process will actually begin, but at least we're a step closer today than we were yesterday, right?

So there you have it. WiFi XOOMs are getting Android 3.2 now, and Verizon XOOMs will (hopefully) soon be upgraded to support LTE. There's no word yet on when Verizon's version of the XOOM will get a taste of 3.2, but I'd be willing to be that it'll be coming sometime in the near future.
