Bollywood movie videogame tie-in
Sony Europe to publish game serving as RA.One's prequel; game developed by Trine Games
The videogame industry in India has been synonymous with mobile and iPad games development, but that train of thought may change. Sony Computer Entertainment Europe recently announced that they will publish a tie-in game based on the upcoming Hindi sci-fi movie called RA.One. The developers for the game will be Trine Games, a studio based in Mumbai that also had a hand in developing Street Cricket Champions and Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods. The game will be out for the PS2 and PS3 via PSN download.
According to a recent post on Hindunstan Times, the game is a prequel to the movie and its story is written by the movie's lead and screenplay writer Shah Rukh Khan. The "platformer action" game is said to have more than 20 levels and multiplayer components. Sony PlayStation India's country manager Atindriya Bose said that "Shah Rukh’s involvement with the project has been huge. He’s spent a lot of time giving invaluable inputs at the story-creation stage. The entire storyline is a direct input from him. It has to be integrated seamlessly with the story of the film, so we worked very closely on the pre-production of the game."
The game has been in development for 10 months and will serve to create a buzz for the upcoming movie, with a release window set a month before RA.One's theatrical release.
The movie itself also stars Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal and is directed by Anubhav Sinha. The sci-fi movie is set to release on October 26 this year.
