Security Experts Warn About the Dangers of Jail Breaking Apple Devices

Uh-oh… Looks like your iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch are not safe from hackers as they have exposed a bug in Apple’s software that can be exploited by cyber criminals. The security flaw in Apple’s iOS can be tapped through a process called “jail breaking,” which
uses a code that Apple customers can use to modify the operating system of their iDevices. A number of iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch users would like to have their devices jail broken so they could download and run apps that are not approved by Apple. The process can also enable iPhone users to use their smartphones on mobile carriers other than Apple’s exclusive networks. The new version of the code was released yesterday on the website JailBreakMe.com.
Security experts warned that cyber criminals may utilize jail breaking and reverse engineer it to find a hole in the iOS security and develop malware, possible a PDF file, within a couple of days. These malicious software can do “anything (the hackers) want,” including stealing passwords, important documents, and emails.
Apple has yet to release an update on the iOS that would protect users against malware caused by jail breaking. The company, however, has warned users the warranty on its devices would become void if jail broken.
